Estate Gift Completes Capital Campaign

In 1997, Long Beach Day Nursery (LBDN) embarked on a capital campaign to renovate its East Branch Facility and add 8,412 square feet to house a new "Beverly Lewis O’Neill Infant/Toddler Center" and increase licensed capacity by 42 infants and 38 toddlers.

A well-known family physician in Long Beach, Dr. John Kashiwabara (fondly referred to in the community as ‘Dr. John’) was also an active promoter and supporter of several nonprofit organizations.

He desired to leave his legacy in a more tangible way than just the memories his family, friends, and patients would have of his life and medical care.

His estate plan created an endowment at the Long Beach Community Foundation for the benefit of eight of his favorite nonprofit organizations. By planning during his lifetime for future giving, Dr. John’s support of his favorite charities continues on through the annual distributions from his endowment.
