Estate Gift Completes Capital Campaign
As it goes with construction, costs increased but the donations received were about $500,000 short. Then, out of the blue, in 1999 the LBDN board learned that Hazel Liff, an unknown friend of the Nursery, had died and named LBDN as the primary recipient of her estate. Later that year, LBDN received a check for $401,469 – very close to the exact amount still needed to complete the project. Today, Hazel Liff’s name is proudly displayed on the front of the East Branch, and LBDN could not have done it without her generosity.
